Suggested Search Terms - Finding Resources:

Using search terms effectively is key to finding the most relevant resources when searching in databases, search engines, or library catalogs.

Use Specific Keywords -

Choose the most relevant words for your topic. Avoid using long phrases or complete sentences. Example: Instead of "How does AI impact education?" use AI AND education impact as your search terms. Use an asterisk (*) at the end of a root word to find variations of a word. Many databases allow filters to refine results based on publication date, geographic location, types of sources, or language, which can be helpful for more specific research. Use the filters!

If you are looking for more search terms, try these:

General Search:

  • Holocaust AND (Nazi persecution OR Jewish genocide) - This will broaden the search to include resources that discuss the Holocaust using different terms like Nazi persecution or Jewish genocide, which are sometimes used in historical texts.
  • Holocaust NOT World War II battles - Results will focus on Holocaust, not World War II battles.
  • Nazi propaganda

Specific Events:

  • Holocaust AND survivor testimonies - This search will provide results specifically focusing on Holocaust survivor testimonies, which could be oral histories, interviews, memoirs, or documentaries.
  • Holocaust AND Auschwitz AND liberation - This will find resources that specifically talk about the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp during the Holocaust.
  • "Holocaust denial" AND legislation - Holocaust denial and related legal efforts or legislation aimed at combating denial.
