Researching: A How To Guide

Steps to finding research materials and academically sounded resources using the Hallmark University database system

I found an article, what now?

You have found a potential article, here are things you can do!

(The information on this page deals with full-text scholarly journal articles only. If you are looking at an eBook or another type of resource, there may be slightly different tools and buttons.)

Full Text, Full Text-PDF, Abstract/Details

Full Text: This is the full article. No formatting from the original publication is present, but you can read all of the words of the article.

Full Text- PDF: This is a PDF copy of the article as it was found in the publication. This is always the best way to read an article as it shows all the pictures, spacing, page numbers, and other tidbits of interest that will make citing easier in your research paper.

Abstract/Details: this provides the article's abstract (or summary) and publication information.

Other Options

Download PDF- Download the full article on your desktop. This will include the publication formatting. It is a good option if you want to read the article later or print it.

Cite- Go to the Cite Button page for more information!

Email- Email the article and citation to yourself or group members

Print- The article goes to your selected printer in publication formatting as a printable document.

All Options- Here are some other things you can do with the article, including saving it to the Cloud, seeing it in a different format, or sending it to a citation machine (please check out the cite button page before considering this option.)

Read the Article!

And last, but not least, you must read the article.

All of it!

This is the only way to fully know if it works within the context of your research and where it might 'fit in' as you write your research paper.
